techcrunch.com — I’m not going to discuss the economic meltdown and its devastating effect on technology companies and internet startups in this post, but rather something that crossed my mind earlier this morning: “Web 2.0″ seems to become more and more a void (and an avoided) term. Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it is definitely apparent.

Semantic web is a catch phrase too. Does it mean microformats? Even that's not really a technology, just css classes with some best practices for describing content.

You wouldn't surf on a car. You wouldn't surf on a handbag. You wouldn't surf on a mobile phone. You wouldn't surf on a DVD. Riding surfboard is surfing. Surfing is against the internet!Surfing. It's not something you do online.

I take a "Web 2.0" approach with my webcomic, which really means jack s**t aside from "I throw a piece of spaghetti at the wall each week and see what sticks". It's not technically savvy (I only recently switched my site's back end to Wordpress, which makes it a glorified blog now) , but hey, people gimme their input, they spread the word and comment on it, and hopefully I take that and make a better comic. The art always improves, it becomes slowly more popular, and Social Media either helps me spread my word or figure out how to tweak it for an ever-wider audience. But NOOOO, nobody ever notices it's Web 2.0, they just run away screaming as soon as they see the word "Furry"...
