io9.com — There is no reason to remake something that is absolutely perfect. A big reason for that there are hundreds of thousands of unproduced screenplays which will never see the light of Harvey Weinstein's desk, and there's a good chance that a couple thousand of those screenplays are actually brilliant.

No, they're not replicating it exactly, they're replicating it poorly.

"Good lord, does this mean that we're likely to see Damon and Affleck doing a recreation of either the Abbott and Costello or Laurel and Hardy movies?"God, I hope not. But at least Damon has a good sense of humor as exhibited by all the shenanigans between him & Jimmy Kimmel (I'm F*cking Matt Damon, the Guillermo Bourne Ultimatum spoof, etc). I know they also did an "I'm f**king Ben Affleck" spoof but Affleck seemed to me like he was just playing along. Damon's just more naturally funny than Affleck is. Of course neither of them can hold a comedic candle to Abbott & Costello.

You know, who cares, don't see it. I am glad they remade it because now I will go watch the first and second. And I wouldn't have thought of seeing the first if they hadn't made a second. If the story is truly brilliant then let it be shown to the masses. No one was going to see the other one. I agree with you, I understand, but seriously be realistic. And use the publicity to bring forth the old film.
