> "In all the movies I've been to in the UK (and I go to a lot) nobody has ever clapped. Has anyone else seen this happen in the UK or is it a USA exclusive thing?"It's the same in Ireland, but at a premiere it's not the same. When I went to see Episode 3 at the midnight showing (first time it aired) most of the audience (including myself) clapped. > "The Life Aquatic was one of the worst pointless movies I had ever seen"Despite some people who clearly didn't understand the humor behind The Life Aquatic (or I'm sure The Royal Tenenbaums) I too found that a hugely under appreciated movie. But of course not everyone has a varied sense of humor, and would much rather see scary movie ad infinitum.
"shutup Mr "I am so much better and more intellectual than you all"I'm not saying I'm more intellectual than them. I'm just saying reading it doesn't make THEM any more intellectual.
in a regular audience, that might happen, and would be a good thing. but we're talking about a film festival full of movie "specialists" to agrement Canne's normal population of ****, it's bound to be an sensationalist over-reactionfest.

I despise literary snobs. Dan Brown is a competent writer who entertains a large audience of readers.

forrest gump the movie (which was okay) was way better than the book (meandering, non sequitur).

Yesterday comments by Belgian magazine people and reporters were quite harsh. Sounded like they all thought the movie was a waste of money.
