capitolhillblue.com — "I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."This is the man trusted with enforcing the rules and regulations of a "toilet paper stained" document.

Terrible president or not, the constitution IS just an outdated piece of paper written by a bunch of white men for a fledging nation a fraction of the size of what it is now. The rest of the world has changed dramatically in the intervening centuries, so too can this document.I'm not necessarily talking about this specific issue under this specific administration. I just find it ridiculous that people will hold so fervently onto the constitution the way the Christians cling to their bible as some infallible document of pure, unadulterated truth and wisdom.

I hate to give it to Bush, but the Constitution IS just a goddamned piece of paper. It's a 200+ old unsigned document, and I don't see how it's binding to future generations. You can see this as a fact by how they are constantling violating the Constitution with impunity. The only thing he's missing is how that goddamn piece of paper is what gave these people their jobs.Read The Constitution of No Authority by Lysander Spoonerhttp://www.fourmilab.ch/etexts/www/NoTreason/NoTreason.html

The only reason both sides interpret the Constitution as they want is because both sides are politically and morally corrupt. The only ones who respect the Constitution litterally and leave no room for interpretation are the Libertarians.Sorry, but this country wasn't founded on Big Central Government and socialist principles.

@DaveVDid you ever think that maybe the only news to report is against those in power? Regardless of what political ideology they claim to follow, don't you think that means they're doing a bad job?Based on my knowledge of events and the laws of my country, I can't think of anything good to report about our government lately, can you?Disclaimer: I don't claim to be liberal, conservative, republican, democrat, or any of that stuff, but feel free to box me up however you see fit.

"I hate to give it to Bush, but the Constitution IS just a goddamned piece of paper. It's a 200+ old unsigned document, and I don't see how it's binding to future generations."By this argument, the Bible is just another interesting work of fiction that shouldn't be followed by so many in this world. In the end, it is just another book touting the tale that so many wants to believe in even though there's no concrete proof. Yet it is a successful belief due to people's faith in it. So the Constitution can parallel that, it is the people that follow it that gives it power. And throughout the majority of the document's lifetime, it has been successful.

It seems some people think Bush is basically OK and would never say this. Some think the Democrats and Republicans are two seperate parties. Very few people know even a little about history, and therefore can't understand why things are happening or how we got in this situation. The Constitution is the single greatest basis for government in the history of the planet. We simply need to utilize it to it's fullest and ADD NOTHING except a VERY RARE amendment on a fine point, changing nothing basic. If the Constitution goes, so goes our freedom. The founding fathers were no smarter than us. They were paying attention and were motivated to provide liberty for citizens. Basic human nature never changes. Evil exists throughout time and throughout the present world. I hope we wake up in sufficient numbers and organize before it's too late. I pledge my allegience to the Constitution.
