bastionofreality.com— As a gay man, Commentator Marc Acito says, when he really started thinking about the news about Sen. Larry Craig's guilty plea in a lewd conduct case, he stopped enjoying it.

The article compares Senator Craig to a bleeding man that needs help. Sorry, but this lying hypocrite is only suffering from self inflicted wounds. He's been denying accusations of trying to have sex with men for about 25 years now (starting with his denial that he did cocaine and had sex with a 17 year old page in 1982). I have no sympathy for this creep. Good riddance.
Here's why I don't agree with the point of the article: lots of people have grown up gay in an atmosphere where they couldn't come out, and yet, somehow, they managed not to make a career of fighting against gay rights and pandering to homophobes. Lots of people have grown up gay in an atmosphere where they "couldn't" come out, and yet they had the guts to come out and face the consequences anyway (or moved somewhere where they could safely come out), and then go on to fight FOR the rights of their fellow gays. The guy had other options besides denial and demagoguery. I do have some sympathy for him as a fellow imperfect human being, but, when it comes down to it, this hypocrite made his bed and he can lie in it.
remove bigotry, hypocrisy, and self-righteous moral superiority from their platform. It isn't going to fly anymore....Sounds like you are talking about all the liberal Dems I know.....Time to wake up, both sides, including you feel they are in the right, and are self-righteous.
also, if youre gonna have unprotected, anonymous, gay anal sex in a mens room stall, be sure at least to put one of those paper seat covers on your partner's lap before mounting, cuz you dont know WHERE some people have been
When you choose the radical right as your friends, what can you expect? It is a bit surprising that they bailed out on him so quickly. But there have been rumors for years. Much like the Foley scandal, seems everyone knew about it on the hill. Yet they continued to keep their mouths shut as long as he worked as a tool for the far right. It shows the reality of the whole manipulation by the right wing. They are manipulating the so-called "values voters" by feeding them the rhetoric they want to hear. Bush and Rove have manipulated the Christian right voters with a little lip service. Pun not intended.
A public restroom is not a place to go looking for sex. Gay isn't a crime, but looking for anonymous sex in a public place is. I believe him when he says he isn't gay. The issue is not really about being gay, it is about looking for sex in the wrong place, a public place. The police were there because there were complaints about what was going on there.
