Call me a puppy but...I am truly affected by powerful political speeches. I was almost weepy reading Lincoln's second inaugural address. The prose is very moving and I always want the speaker to believe what they are saying as much as I want to believe what I am hearing.
Lincoln's 'with malice toward's none' is extremely significant. this was after the north had just won the civil war and radical republicans wanted to punish the already demolished south. He was a great president and a great man. Unfortunately he was shot days after the south surrendered.
Buried. How in the world could anyone include Reagan's stupid speech as one of the best? It was the start of one of the worst presidency's in history and the forerunner of the Bush white house.
