filmschoolrejects.com— Sure, there have been many great Best Picture winners. But what about all the great losers in Oscar history?

This list almost could have been filled with Kubrick films. Nearly everything he did was Oscar-worthy, but time and again he got full metal jacked on the big night. Just like clockwork.
A little harsh I think. I agree George Lucas isn't a great director and Irwin Kirshner should get WAY more credit for Empire and Jedi. But, the acting isn't horrible in new hope. Its definitely from 2001. But if you end up comparing all sci-fi acting to 2001, you will inevitably be dissapointed. The acting in Star Wars works in the favor of the film. The "over-acting" and personality centric characters made the film memorable and makes it distance it self from a wing commander or etc. I LOVE Star Wars, and I do agree that it sucks that every "geek" is required to like Star Wars, which creates a false epicness for the film.
"saying a film can have only one director"Whoops, my mistake. It was the fact that Frank Miller was not a member of the Directors Guild that did it. Films can have more than one director and still be eligible for Academy Awards. Case in point: "No Country For Old Men," directed by Joel Cohen and Ethan Cohen, nominated for Best Directing.

How ironic that you didn't use "ironic" correctly.

Children of Men could have won for its cinematography alone. I'd also like to add Fight Club to the list.
