images.businessweek.com — The 11 projects recognized with this year's AIA Honor Awards for Architecture include several museums, as might be expected given the undiminished power of museum mania. But there are also an equal number of libraries and government buildings, a happy sign that municipal agencies are increasingly respectful of good design.

Just finished house hunting over the weekend. At least in America, it appears MOST residential architecture is guady s**t.

The EMPAC building (still under construction) here in Troy, NY on the RPI campus I believe will be on that list sometime in the future. Heres a link to some concept pictures of what it will look like once finished and a link to some webcams covering the construction process.http://empac.rpi.edu/building/http://empac.rpi.edu/

Haha!Seriously though, some of these buildings are really cool, some look like any other building, and some look really bad. It was fun to look at, but a terrible selection IMO.

So the AiA reckon 8 out of the 11 best new buildings were built in the US then, no self-service there then hey? it's a joke, with a few exceptions the world of architecture generally ignore American buildings - there's more important work going on in SOUTH America than in the conservative North.

Cool! The legislative building from my hometown (Olympia, WA) is on the list! It's not the best, but at least it's there.

Very biased towards modern architecture with only one neoclassical building. Regarding the search for an architecturally redeeming home, good luck. The suburban home isn't based on good design; it's based on trying to sell fantasies of a dream life without being too different.
