usatoday.com — "The USA trails other industrialized nations in high-speed Internet access and may never catch up unless quick action is taken by public-policymakers, a report commissioned by the Communications Workers of America warns." reports USAToday. Okay I understand the international speed difference, but Kansas is rated #1 at 4.1Mbps say it ain't so.

Hello... Look at the size of Japan compared to the U.S. Which country would you rather pay to wire up?

"We have pathetic speeds compared to the rest of the world,".Yeah right, look at us Aussies. We only have ADSL2 here, you Americans are beating us by years in technology... some former aussie prime minister said 'We're the arse (ass) end of the world," damn it I agree with him. We don't get the iPhone 'till 08, we had to wait an extra 3+ months for the PS3, we don't have people even thinking about "Uh, what about Oz? Let's ship it to them first." Apple, Microsoft, ISPs, anybody, why don't you think about AUSTRALIA?!?!

And while we're getting excited about the iphone, nobody hears about how much better their phones arehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_mobile_phone_cultureIt happens. Empires rise & fall.
