DId you just compare the intellectual activity of Chess to that of big fat f**ks running into other big fat f**ks for 3 hours (Football) ? Seriously?

^^^No digg down, and I enjoyed the link. But as I said, it's a different type of game. There are so many factors of football (American) that cannot be calculated in a science, and that's why it's a sport.I don't disrespect soccer, but I think a lot of people disregard football because of the time in seconds. There is a lot more than that, and one study just doesn't do it, IMHO.

Watch how many times the players get rotated in and out. Even then it's not always a full one sprint when they're on the ice.

If you watched more football you'd see this more often. For the first few games the Buffalo Bills did this to try to get the advantage you're thinking of. but like speedbrown said, not every QB can orchestrate this type of offense. There is a lot of checks/reading coverages that need to be done. Not only do you need the QB to do this, the WR's need to be able to adjust to the coverage as well.Plus there are times where you don't want the other team to get the ball due to the players that they have.In certain situations it's a great idea, but a horrible idea to do it every game.

Goals are not the only part that makes hockey exciting- Its the scoring opportunities, the hits, and all the other small battles that define the game. So long as each team is getting scoring chances I do not mind watching a low scoring game.

so you're saying soccer/rugby/basketball other sport etc don't have strategy involved or the players don't give 110%?Sounds like the typical crazed, American football fan.

The Super Bowl is always the longest game, they add as many commercials in it as possible. If you watched a high school game or maybe even College (get that red hat guy off the field!) it goes faster.
