Two alternatives to Android: Windows Mobile and Symbian.I really don't see the hype over Android...I already find both WM and Symbian preferable to the iPhone.

If google is stupid enough to violate its word that it won't do that, then you the user have 2 options:1) install it directly from the app developers website, no need for android market at all2) install it from one of the competing app stores like handigo, who will have a *giant* incentive to pickup any app that were so banned.
