consumerist.com — Netflix is investing in superior customer service to differentiate themselves from Blockbuster as the two rental giants remain locked in a vicious price war. The company has completely shunned email-based support, instead relying on 200 friendly Oregonians to answer calls around the clock.

That might actually be a good thing. I left their service due to really poor customer service. It was so pathetic that I just couldn't take it anymore. But really, their throttling is worse than poor customer service. I can't help it if they only take 1 day to get a movie to me and I watch it that night and it only takes a day to get back to you. Don't penalize ME because you have a good service and tell me that I'm going to get to do that very thing.

dont forget the long lines [esp on a fri evening]. lack of new releases for everything except the blockbuster movies. horrible foreign selection. bad customer service. barely playable scratched up game selection. no warning about games with non working internal memory [before cd based games], and insane drop box policy.i was extremely loyal to blockbuster from the late 80s thru ~2001. i recently went to rent something for a friend since i still had a card, and they told me that i had a ridiculous late fee for star wars ep2; a movie that i BOUGHT from best buy the first day it went on sale, and have never rented since i own the movie. i havent regretted switching to other stores and netflix since. even with dealing with lost and scratched movies, i havent had a single problem with netflix yet.

I like Netflix because the turn around times are great. We get movies within two days of mailing them back. And they just lowered their prices again as well!

I quit GameFly for the poor way they treat long-time customers. New members get the preferred pick of new games. Even if a game shows "Available" in your game queue, they'll still send you older titles and reserve the hot stuff for new customers. When I complained to their customer service, the response was the double-speak equivalent of "Suck it." So I canceled.

figures a negative comment would get dugg down considering that the advertisements on this very page outnumber blockbuster's ads 2 to 1. (see the top of the page)

Sometimes I don't want to talk to someone on the phone. I want to email.
