cracked.com — These old Disney movies are a little bit like your aging Uncle Frank. Honestly, he means well when he points out that Will Smith is "well-spoken." It's just that he, like the assemblage of clips below, dates from a time when people were unfairly characterized by their ethnic background (the acceptable methods are, of course, religion, geography, se

The problem is the subtle programming that happens when kids are always fed these images. Even in most of the current cartoon movies, everybody recognizes the actors doing the voices. Most of the voices for the sidekick, jive-talking animals in the movies are still cast to black actors like eddie murphy being the donkey in shrek, etc. It's very recognizable. If the cartoon character is a monkey or other "less noble" animal, most likely it's a minority with a very recognizable voice playing it. JEJ doing mustafa is one of the very rare times you'll hear a recognizable black voice in a positive and honorable role. Most of the times they're the monkeys and donkeys, rats and mice are always latino (the bad, lazy, or crafty ones anyway). This teaches kids predetermined social roles that are hard to break out of. The good prince charming type of character is almost guaranteed to be voiced by a white guy. There's a reason why young minority girls frequently see their prince charmings as white guys and as they grow up have little second thoughts dating one. But those same girls wouldn't even think of other minority guys as their potential prince charmings, including ones of their own race. There is a lot of cultural brainwashing that goes on that negative affects minority communities and their self image/expectations. If you take recognizable minority voices and put them in the always slacking /jive-talking/sidekick roles, the minority kids watching end up absorbing that as their role in society. Disney's main character is very rarely going to be voiced by a minority or drawn to be one unless that's the specific theme of the cartoon.

"So while making Sebastian a charming, party-loving stereotype is a baby step forward for Disney, it's still a stumble backwards for civil rights."I didnt know Disney had anything to do with entire groups of peoples' civil rightsThis article grasps for straws and it sucks

The interesting thing about that study is that I don't even care if African Americans have been found to be better athletes. I've observed that for years. Take, for example, an NFL team. Most of the black men are huge. They're built like machines. You'll have a few white guys mixed in with the bunch, but most of the positions that require extreme physical abilities will be filled by black players. That said, most quarterback positions are filled by white players. The QB positions don't require as much physical conditioning --definitely some, but that's where the guards come in-- but requires the ability to think quickly and make difficult decisions using their brain.I am definitely painting a typical stereo type and there are definitely exceptions (Steve McNair, who *presently* sucks!). You can call me racist for this; however, at the end of the day, I'm being realistic. I don't say it to be ignorant in any way shape or form. Heck, there are days that I wish I could be as big as those linemen. I've worked out for years, lifting weights and running. I'll never get to half of what those guys have accomplished. I'm still just a 6' 150 lbs. white guy, software engineer. I've found my calling and I'm happy with that.

If you think that's racist, please off yourself so the world can live with good entertainment again.
