jalopnik.com— At 725 HP, the Super Snake is now the highest horsepower fully-warrantied Mustang ever built. With pricing and details just leaked on it, we can finally see how they do it.

The first thing I said in my mind was, "Super Snake." The second thing I said in my mind was, "Thsuper Thsnake."The name completely ruins it for me. Seriously, even Super Cobra would have been way better to me.
I wonder how many of the above "car enthusiasts" have ever driven a S-197 Mustang to it's maximum limits. If there are any that have, there probably isn't one that has driven a Shelby GT500 to it's maxinum limits. I have been a very satisfied owner of a GT500 since 8/23/06 and I have raced it on the track and the road to it's limit many times. My total investment to date is $64K, this includes $9K in modifications; it's putting out 640 HP at the flywheel, 563 HP at the rear wheels on 91 octane pump gas. I could take it higher but that would require higher octane fuel and in California anything higher than 91 isn't easy to find and when you do it's $5.50+ a gallon. Is the solid rear differential a detriment to handling? In it's stock form with the panhard rod set-up, it is not that good. But early on I switched out the panhard rod to a Watts link set-up from Fay's 2 Suspension and now it tracks as good as any Corvette that I've driven and that includes the Corvettes at Bob Bondurant's driving school in Arizona. Is it a 911 GT3? No. Is it a Lambo? No. Is it a M5? No. Is it some buzzed-up ricer from the FAR EAST? HELL NO!IT"S ALL AMERICAN MUSCLE, JUST LIKE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And when my Porsche buddies ask me why I bought it I smile and say, "Because I'd rather be an old guy driving a musclecar than an old guy driving a sportscar." And when my Corvette buddies ask me why I bought it I grin and say, "Because bow ties are for little boys."Cheers to all,WP
I dont know when you posted but chances are it was a while ago but you can get them cheap now. One at a dealership in Memphis GT500 brand new 45,000 is what they are asking
Solid axles are better for drag racing because they can be designed to plant more weight into the rear tires. They're also lighter than IRS setups. On the other hand, Independent Rear Suspensions are typically better for turning maneuvers. All things being equal, I'd rather have an IRS setup, but then again that's way too much horsepower for me to handle.
You'd never see a serious drag racer use an Independent Rear Suspension because solid rear axles can be designed to plant more force into the rear tires for better grip. At 4000+ Lbs this is clearly a drag racing car and not one intended to race around corners.
Wow. Wide array of comments. Not sure what kind of cars people own/afford to on this post but sure can talk irrelevant crap. Sure that hardly any Ford or Shelby fans here except for few. Its simple - Ford gives a ...uck if you buy or not. Theres million people who would want to buy for a lot more than that price. It godamn wears a Shelby Badge and not some boyish STI, EVO and some other asian crap who heard of cars when Shelby was racing. Don't even get to Viper and Ford GTs. You cannot compare a non standard car "Ariel" to a Ford GT. We should probably compare an F1 car to an Ariel. Thats more an open wheel comparision. Its fair to compare in the same class not apples to oranges. 03 Cobra will blow away the M3 doors. Either people have no clue how to drive their cars better or know nothing of upgrades. F430 had to trick to come close to Ford GT and it eventually competed with Enzo class which costs 4 times the cost of GT. Imagine a GT worth a million dollar. It will blow away any known car known to man. You got to understand why Ford does what it does. Making a million dollar is easy. I'm shocked that there are people who don't like GT500 styling and i bet those got to be some asian crap. I wonder if asians have any clue of what a stlying is. People are so average thinkers and have petty minds.

it won't be cheap, although the supercharger might add some relative efficiency :)

price is too much but the wheels are bad ass. I'll just get the wheels and put them on a black Saleen and I am good to go.

Is this like a "who's c**k is bigger" contest?

yeah - it certainly doesn't fall into the "pony car" category at that price.

don't forget about the GT-R R35, because that car can keep up with the Turbo, Z06 and the GT as well
