cracked.com — Occasionally you see a character die in an abrupt, pointless way that seemed to have been written in as an afterthought, or even in such an undignified way that you suspect the writers included it as a 'screw you' to the actor. Well, there's a reason for that.

That whole movie was the epitome of s**tty writing and directing. Surprising since it came on the tail of the excellent writing and directing of Alien and Aliens.

Yeah, I would include most deaths on Lost after season one. I remember reading about Boone's death in an interview from the writers and how proud they were to abruptly end a semi-popular character on the show mid-season. They talked about how deaths of characters made the show so much better and real. Apparently, they REALLY took that to heart and just started "whacking" everyone in season two, ESPECIALLY that Ana and Libby scene you just mentioned. That's when I knew the show had lost its direction. I can just see the writers in their meeting: "Wait, why shoot one, when you can shoot two!!? Muwahaha! Brilliant!"
