There's a plastic frame on top of a metal bumper. That way, minor accidents don't damage your expensive, heavy, hard-to-replace metal bumper. But big accidents are something you're still protected from by the internal metal.

Why do people bother digging such subjective topics? This isn't news for people who are enthusiasts or people who even slightly pay attention to the industry. 20 greatest, 20 greatest, 20 greatest...... It's not hard to feel that half of things listed aren't great at all.

What a poorly assembled page. Embedding images isn't that hard, but I suppose not as easy as just linking to random sites that already have pictures and descriptions.
