Back when I worked IT for a small corporation they didn't know jack about what was exactly done in my line of work. So on days that I wanted to be lazy and wait for a process to be done I would reinstall Windows NT and say that the hard drive crashed...even better when I had to order a new hard drive while I was at it....can't forget upgrading RAM
I believe this is called "render-wander" .. when something is rendering / compiling, you tend to wander aimlessly about as though to try to find meaning in one's life...

Database migrations are another great one of these, especially if you are using ActiveRecord and Rails as it can take forever.
