premiere.com — Some scary movies are so gruesomely great, Hollywood makes them again. Sometimes the results are screaming successes; others aren't just horror, they're horrible. With the sequel to the remake of The Hills Have Eyes coming soon, we take a look at what happens when scary gets a makeover.

The remake of the Shining was absolute s**t. CGI was terrible and what was with vegetation coming alive??

It's a list of great films that have been remade - not a list of particularly good or bad remakes. Of course, by definition, a remake of a great film is particularly likely to be a disappointment.

A terrific horror movie. Not a bad video game either. I think it was a launch title for the PS2.

To be fair, it wasn't really a remake. It was an adaptation of the book. Kubrick's "The Shining" and Stephen King's "The Shining" are two pretty dissimilar works.

I like most of the originals on this list, but just about all of the remakes blew. It really is amazing that these movies continue to make money. They must be doing something right. There are so many great opportunities available for screenwriters and with just a little web surfing, they are easy to find. When trying to perfect a screenplay (if that's even possible) it's invaluable to have feedback on your script instead of just working in a vacuum. For those just starting out, that can be a tough thing to find. There are some film schools that offer such services. One that I found is Film Connection, http://www.film-connection.com/ They offer one on one mentoring and their coure is available all over the US and Canada.

My favorite is an all time classic film of dracula and I am pumped that a movie theater on Long Island is showing it!!! http://robnilsen.blogspot.com/2009/10/halloween-ev ...
