Another year, Another "Google Killer"? What was last years "Google Killer"? I've only heard of one "Google Killer" and it (Culi) sucked. I've never heard of another site with some amazing search technology that they think can beat Google!

"Truth be told, the new Facebook looks cleaner and more usable now than it did before. Clearly Facebook intends to be more about communication between members, and not so much about accessorizing a personal profile page with messy and browser crashing trinkets à la MySpace."I joined Facebook shortly after it's redesign, so I can't comment on what it was like prior to that. But, I was on Myspace for a few months prior to joining Facebook. And, Facebook quickly became my preferred social networking site for the reasons stated above. I'm primarily there to communicate with my friends. Facebook's clean, interface simply presents the information I need & gets out of the way. Myspace is a very different animal. In some cases, people do put up tasteful, even beautiful profile pages. But, more often, I find myself the victim of bad web design as people simply throw a bunch of random crap up on their page. And, of course, there's the profile music that often starts up automatically when someone accesses a page. In some cases, I feel like I've walked into a Spencer's gifts shop. Now, sometimes, that's not a bad thing. Sometimes, I enjoy the energy and chaos. But, at 41, I usually find it distracting. I generally prefer the more orderly approach of Facebook. But, both have their place.

It's spelled CUIL (or with 2 L's if you used it before it went public).Last year Microsoft relaunched Live Search with a new look and algorithm and there were rumors that it would overtake Google in the search market. And the year before that Ask.com dropped Jeeves from their equation.

In response to the Seinfeld ads, the Apple commercial where PC has the 2 stacks of money and then ends up "putting all the money into advertising" is hilarious. It does seem that Microsoft would rather push Vista than fix it...
