cracked.com — Life is a relentless parade of horrors. Adults try to shield the kiddies from that fact, but every year animated film studios work hard to make sure the real world comes crashing in on little Timmy years ahead of schedule.Want proof? How about...

The Incredibles is pretty damn violent for elementary school aged kids. I mean, the amount of bladed weaponry that threatens the Incredible family is pretty fierce and many of the henchmen die in explosions.I remember the Mouse and His Child being pretty damn sobering when my parents made me watch it during 3rd grade. However, one movie that should be on this list is SMALL SOLDIERS. It's more like Gremlins meets Toy Story meets Puppet Master. This movie was definitely targeted to small children but is the most violent, disturbing movie ever. It even has alot of big names like Tommy Lee Jones, Dennis Leary, and Kirsten Dunst.

it is totally not scary, but as a kid I absolutely loved "My Neighbor Totoro" any one else remember that one? I think it was a very early Miyazaki film.also worth a mention: the short animated film "The Snowman" which had absolutely no diolauge in it, yet had me in tears as a kid

Honestly, where IS my god now? If I wasn't an athiest already, I'd convert to a judeo-christian denomination just to watch Watership downe and lose a deity and entire belief system. You made me cough up a lung, kidney and testicle. Guess this is one racoon who won't be kicking bot-bot with his fellow ball handling freaks.

The 1986 movie was the best 84 mins of Transformers ever! That includes all other Transformers incarnations.

What about The Never Ending Story when Bastian has to get past the statues that shoot lasers?? He comes across the suit of armor with the burnt corpse of a knight in it. Scariest s**t (as a kid) ever!

Very true; amazing film that's incredibly traumatizing. I saw it at Target once stuffed in with the children's DVDs, and i had to point out the difference to the store manager. Just the thought of young children seeing it gives me the willies. Still, a definite must-see that I wish I could show my father-in-law (who still carries a grudge since WW II.)

Children books are very helpful and useful for kids to get knowledge about this amazing world. Among all the books children like fairy tales and adventurous story books. http://www.speakaboos.com/tracks/favorites
