telegraph.co.uk — Money talks, and it is going to have a bigger say than ever on where we travel in 2009. The tumbling pound has sharply increased the cost of holidays in many of our favourite destinations. British travellers will find prices in Eurozone countries up by more than 20 per cent and and in the United States by 25 per cent.

The upside is that Australia is much more attractive to foreign travelers now because of the low dollar. More tourists means more $$$ flowing into our economy.

For some reason I thought the headline was "Ten reasons to time travel to 2009". I need more sleep.

What is amazing is that they picked mainly Europe locations. You would expect a more well rounded list.

Like robev above, and maybe others on the comment list, when I skimmed by my brain initially told me the title was "Ten Reasons to Time Travel in 2009". Now THAT would have been interesting!

We may just need to invent reasons and create new ones where there are none, all in order to justify that we are still "in need" of that much desired activity, as in this case, travel. For me,, the reason that I can travel is enough to make sure that I will travel. Great article anyways....

there is plenty of culture in England... you just have to go to the right places!

I love traveling and love to explore different things. This is the biggest reason to travel.

It definitely enumerated the things you can do when you travel but it did not give a reason to convince me to travel in this year where there is an economic downturn.

I think you forgot India, India has always been high on People's wish list for some time now. You can land some great bargains if you know whom to contact. For Taj and Rajasthan you can log onto http://www.arounddelhi.com

Cape Town is one the number one place I want to visit. From what I've heard, India has a lot to offer and should be included on this list too!

You can't be free and not be able to go about as you please. How can you have limitations on freedom? If you could have a place called freedom, would they accept anything less than freedom? If Israel and the US wants to limit freedom, and you want to be free, why go there or travel? IT's a tough question. Thankfully, our desire to do something no matter if it makes us upset for a short period time is greater. I mean, we will trade anything to go see Bali, Egypt, Israel or Poland. This is because our lives are kinda boring and we need something to spice it up! I tend to use expert travel people who give escorted tours such as http://www.traveluniversally.com. Just thought I'd throw that advice out there, because they have ASTA and IATAN certifications and have the best deal on certain services and great customer support. Remember enjoy life, you'll get through the airport screeners!
