osx86project.org — Tired of the heat and whining from your new MacBook Pro? A group of owners are getting together on May 20th to call Apple support and tell them that they won't settle for anything less than a solution. Spread the word! Remind Apple of the quality their users expect!

I think this is a great idea. The MacBook Pros have been out for months and Apple has turned a blind eye to the problem. If you pay as much as I have for my MBP, I want it to work without any whine or extra heat. I, for one, will be calling on May 20th.

Of course it will clog up the phonelines. However, the point is that Apple will know very clearly that people are concerned. Forced? Maybe not. But it will certainly get their attention. And although they may be working on a solution, they may just as easily not be - we haven't heard anything either way. The least they could do is tell us.Frankly, if the majority of laptops are going to have issues like these, they shouldn't have brought them to market in the first place.Did you see the thing about applying new thermal paste? That should NEVER have to be done to a new notebook.

Why is this no longer in the "digg for stories?"If people reported this as lame, it's a sad commentary on digg. With 18 diggs in 30 minutes, it's important to a lot of people. Lameness is not fixing the problem.
