news.com.com — British shop-owner invents a device which emits a high-frequency pulsing sound that, he said, can be heard by most people younger than 20 and almost no one older than 30. The sound is designed to so irritate young loiterers that after several minutes, they cannot stand it and go away.

Why not just spray your place with Old-Person-Smell-In-A-Can?

"I heard of convenience store owner who found a cheaper, effective way of doing the same thing. To discourage teenage loiterers without affecting walk-in traffic, he simply started playing Sinatra over parking lot loudspeakers."HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

"Teen Repellent: High Pitch Whine Drives Away Teens"So the guy plays s**tty modern punk music in front of his store, and the kids leave? To think that would only make the other kids stay around me.. ugh.

"Where I lived some of the shops just played classical music. That was enough to drive any young person away"... or teach them to waltz.

Hmm - this digg no longer exists as one of the front page stories. It is also no longer listed in the Technology folder.I just happened to have a window open where the story was up so I can still see it.My apologies for whatever was done to merit the deletion.

There seems to be an awful lot of juveniles on this post. I would suggest that some of them would be better occupied learning how to spell properly rather than loitering outside shops and private residences, causing a nuisance. As for the old cry of "we have nothing better to do", there is more for the youth of today to do than there was when I was a teenager. The difference with todays youth and that of the 70's is that we had more respect for everyone.Chew over that one!!

I am 33 years old and the guys at work were recently playing this REPEATEDLY as a joke.. now I have tinnitus (A constant buzzing sound in my head) which won't go away and I have to see a specialist to try and 'fix' the problem before it drives me completely insane. I do NOT find this amusing in any way shape or form. I think it is completely irresponsible to release something like this to the public without proper testing, which they obviously did NOT do since they claim people over 30 will not hear it and look how many people have heard it. I now am at risk of having permanent hearing problems due to this and god know what kind of medical bills. If anyone knows the true origin or who created this and who is responsible, please send me the information at jbsubs@gmail.com. My first appointment with the specialist is tomorrow.. after 2 weeks of this in my head it is driving me nuts, making it very difficult to work or even want to be awake since that is the only time I don't hear it .. Okay, that sucked. I'm going to try to post that again.Well, I'm truly sorry about that, but for the rest of us... W00T! (Ever thought of inaudible Morse code, or the other limitless possibilities for this technology, angry teenagers who will vote against medicare for their sick, dying parents?) And, animals? Please. Say "Hey, could you turn that off, I'm not a hoodlum and there aren't any around." Then if they don't, you can sue! Happy?Okay, bye, I'm off to enjoy my new unlimited freedom due to this wonderful new piece of gadgetry. And in closing, remember this. "In their strengths are our strengths."P.S. How's that for spelling?
