suntimes.com — A silver lining found within today's financial storm is that more businesses are embracing cloud computing. The economic and environmental advancements of storing and delivering more corporate information via the Internet (aka "the cloud") will be the technology story of 2009.

"Yeah that techie stuff is over rated. Let's just sit here and play checkers 'cause Bubba don't like them funny words an Jeb wants to go buzzard huntin' before dawn again. Every time we do that the dog ends up at the vet with buckshot so I'm just gonna sit here and mind my own damn business. Gadamn hippies an elitists makin' life weird an all. I hear they want to put chips in our brains to control Global Warmin'! Everyone knows it's the End o' Days anyhow and the proof positive is they want to put nuclar power plants in ma truck." (scratches balls)Hey that was kinda fun- just sort of flowed right out like dictation. I think it must be from the alien implant. (What a nightmare that business was. You would think they could at least keep the lab table warm after coming all the way from Galactica Prime.)

yes but when buzzwords come out like cloud computing managers start demanding it, it becomes more widespread then more cross compatible services pop up.ie. ajax, how fast did tons of sites start using ajax when that work caught on, now we have social networking everywhere, next cloud computing will be everywhere

Your comments wreak of a network admin who's job is being threatened.....These are *way* different than web-based apps. Many are now customizable platforms. Tune things the way you need them to run, or in the case of force.com - build your own app. They're easy to use, cheap/easy to build, and cheap to maintain. Regarding security - any reputable (ie: salesforce.com, Oracle, SAP, etc) "cloud computing" company is just as secure/stable, if not moreso than any corporate server farm I've ever witnessed. Hell, Salesforce even makes their status public: <a class="user" href="http://trust.salesforce.com/trust/status/">http://trust.salesforce.com/trust/status/</a>

For some reason your use of $() instead of [] made it even funnier

Yeah, I was expecting "new gadgets in 2009" as per the title.Instead, all I got was a rambling article with this kind of mind-fart rambling dribble :"Look for more convergence between the IT and energy sectors. Todd Thibodeaux, CEO of the Oakbrook Terrace-based Computing Technology Industry Association, says his industry will have a "large role to play in sustainability and alternative energy development."
