post-gazette.com — If there is anything more boring than WATCHING video games being played on TV, I don't know ... Wait, wait, I almost forgot about televised poker. Well, it turns out that the old TechTV stars didn't just dissolve into pixels and fade away. They're back with a vengeance as podcasters.

Props to the Post and props to Pittsburgh. Ive lived here my whole life and people over look the city because they think Pittsburgh is dirty and has steel mills. I am 22 and yet to see an active steel mill down town (da'n ta'n pittsburghese). We have Carnegie Mellon, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, 3rox, and many more tech things here. That combined with the low cost of living make Pittsburgh an ideal contender for silicon valley.

I, too watched it whenever I was home and I could (almost every day and I watched the reruns of the shows I missed). I was lucky enough to be a caller on one of the last shows before it became AoTS [unfortunately it was already G4TechTV :( ]

COme on guys TechTV had some good stuff, but he production values were average. Lots of unprofessional off comment ranting and what the heck was the "Martin's Late Night I cant get laid so Ill make a lot of really bad sex jokes" show they had?

Yeah but I remember him from PC mag more than tech tv because that's where he got his bi start. The other guys like Norton and Rose I remember solely from Tech TV.

Not all of us know that TSS was before TWiT - hell I didn't even know the screensavers and G4 ever existed before TWiT came along.

@benserwa: being showered in hydrochloric acid while listening to The Shaggs and being compelled to look at nude photos of Helen Thomas is 1000x better than G4 ever was. G4 is utterly uncontaminated with intelligence or talent.

Is it just me or do Kevin Rose and Martin Sarget sort of look alike?

Just because you can't play very well doesn't mean it sucks.Oversaturated? Sure (_Poker Dome_ springs to mind). But "hype" never lasts this long -- poker is here to stay. And only the better shows like High Stakes Poker will survive. So you won't have to complain so much.

I enjoyed, and dugg, the article for piece of mind, not information. there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing something I would like everyone to know displayed in a mainstream way. I almost shouted when I saw Kevin on the cover of business week, grabbed the newspaper, handed the cashier all the money in my pocket and almost forgot to pay for my soda.

nice commentary but i've seen better poker sites around. for example, "pokerlife. wordpress. com" (remove spaces) is a good one.
