TI-BASIC is what I started with. Calculators take a minute to learn and a lifetime to master. It's hard writing games for a processor that has a max speed of 6Mhz.

I remember in 2nd grade we had something like that called "microworlds" with the little turtle and it was basically a version of basic with easy built in functions for drawing and moving shapes and working with colors. It's like ms paint where you draw out all your objects and stuff and then apply simple english-like code. I don't think it helped me much as learning to program was still hard for me at first.

Most college's use BASIC for their introductory college programming courses. I've seen countless students get completely lost from day one. Most of them changing their career plans afterward. I don't know if BASIC or VB is a good place to start. Non-object-oriented habits can be difficult to break once learned. After considering the problems of BASIC students that I have observed, the biggest ones have centered around not being able to find their mistakes, or know what they've done wrong. Would a more intelligent SDK help beginners?
