Another reason that stuff is progressing so quickly is because the iPhone's API's are written in Cocoa, so a lot of developers can re-apply a lot of what they know about Cocoa to the iPhone.
If it were just that simple.It'll need a GUI, and will need to be set up to work with the correct devices on the phone. I'm not saying it wont happen, but right now the apps compiled for the phone are simple for a reason. The toolkit is still very picky.
Yup, we all want VoIP so we can use the cellular network to make phone calls... wait, I can already do that.Oh, we want VoIP so we can get free long distance... wait, I already get that.cvxdes, VoIP would be used so we wouldn't have to use our minutes when we have a perfectly good wifi connection available.It would also be extremely handy during international trips, if you can find wifi, you save yourself a buck or two a minute.
