thinkprogress.org — He politely put the peanut butter and jelly to the side, closed my bag and gave it back to me. I was too astonished to talk. I took my bag and walked towards the gate thinking about the 4 or maybe 5 meals that she had taken from me.

The SNL skit on the TSA and liquids/gels. http://www.youtube.com/p.swf?video_id=ykzqFz_nHZEThis really shows what a farce the TSA is. If SNL writers can poke holes in your security, you are doing a lousy job. Bruce Schneier once said we need a new word to differentiate security from perceived security. The TSA does some security and a lot of perceived security.

FTA: "It’s almost impossible to make healthy choices on a food stamp diet.”More spin and PR talk to distort truth. First of all, it is not healthy to eat red meat every day. Twice a week is more than adequate. Secondly, $3 worth of fresh potatoes and green beans from the grocery store are plenty for two meals a day.Pasta or rice can round out the diet.Did these Congressmen think to purchase and prepare meals for the week, thus being able to buy $21 worth of groceries for the week and leverage leftovers? And if you can't afford $3 a day for food on your own, eating healthy isn't the goal. Eating period is the goal.

Every one is slamming on people on food stamps. While I agree there should be a limit...I don't think it should completely destroyed. Perhaps everyone is entitled to X dollars a month. Period. (100 dollars may be)Food stamps helped me out before...it's hard sometimes and it takes swallowing a lot of pride to use them. But if you've paid your taxes in the past...well thats what it's there for.

Hmm currently on food stamps...sadly. Had a 4.0 in COLLEGE. Graduated with a 3.56. Can't find a job that pays above min. wage.

grew up in housing projects for a time. Yes they all have cable tv. They do all have nice cars.Yes the live in boyfriends, Nintendo's, etc...exist....IN the city.In the country it's different. Poor is DIRT poor. Like if you didn't have dirt you'd not have food ever.Work is scarce. Finding a ride to work even harder, and bicycles are useless on dirt roads thirty miles from a town with work. Medicine is hard to come by.Dr.s are 50 to 60 miles a way.So yes the city poor could probably make it with out food stamps, hud, etc...But in the country...just getting to the store 30 miles away to buy the food is difficult. Also less drugs, pills, or weed. Just Jesus...EVERYWHERE. Also with everyone knowing what everyone else is doing you won't keep your assistance if your boyfriend lives with you. The system was made for a time when Americans lived in small communities. It's out dated.

Evolution... survival of the fittest... if you're too f**king lazy or too stupid to get a job, then you deserve to go hungry and die... Only exceptions should be with children under 18 years of age. And what really pisses me off is when I see someone buy things like doritos and pepsi with food stamps...
