reghardware.co.uk — TDK has gone ahead and produced the 200GB Blu-ray Disc it announced a few weeks ago that it was working on. And while it appears to have failed to compress four standard dual-layer 50GB discs together into a single unit, it has nonetheless come up with a novel alternative.

I heard with BR's higher density discs, they actually require human QC (not automated) at the production factory because the failure rate is so high. What people don't hear about Blu-Ray is its problematic reliability issues due to its higher density.

its been double triple duped. <a class="user" href="http://www.digg.com/hardware/TDK_cracks_200GB_Blu-ray_Disc_problem">http://www.digg.com/hardware/TDK_cracks_200GB_Blu-ray_Disc_problem</a> <a class="user" href="http://digg.com/technology/TDK_Developing_200_GB_Blu-Ray_Media">http://digg.com/technology/TDK_Developing_200_GB_Blu-Ray_Media</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/technology/TDK:_Ok,_we_re_done_with_the_200GB_recordable_Blu-Ray">http://digg.com/technology/TDK:_Ok,_we_re_done_with_the_200GB_recordable_Blu-Ray</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/technology/TDK_develops_200GB_recordable_Blu-Ray_disc_with_six_layers">http://digg.com/technology/TDK_develops_200GB_recordable_Blu-Ray_disc_with_six_layers</a>the last one, being the oldest. If you ask me the second to last has the better catch. Even though it was ripped from engadget.oh one more thing. the other guys knew to put this in the technology section:) 200gb blue ray is a technology not a piece of hardware.

i think there will be a war between hd-dvd & blue-ray.but it will be very easy for the existing dvd factories to start making hd-dvd's with the same equipment.on the other hand you need a completely different equipment to produce blue-ray's
