eborg, you live in a world constructed by the media. More people get their news from the media than any other source. ie, a recent event in another country cause me to ask my twitter friend in said country what was going on. This person merely told me what he'd seen on TV! He had no real idea of what was going on beyond the fact of what TV had given him and he lived in the city in question. We don't even walk around our towns to find out what is happening. We get our local news not from each other but from the local newspaper and the local TV & radio stations!!
Hope this explain enough for you to do more research. :)
