lifehacker.com — The OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs extension imports documents from Google Docs and Spreadsheets to OpenOffice.org and exports from OO.org to GDocs so you can work with your docs both online and off as you see fit.

Minus the blog spam: <a class="user" href="http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/ooo2gd">http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/ ...</a>I've been waiting for something like this. I get really sick of all this web 2.0 crap and people shouting how it will save the world because we can access our files from anywhere. The future won't be ajax applications, but rather native desktop applications (for obvious reasons) with integration to online services. Of course, ajax has it's place for when all you have is a browser (library computer) but I don't see anyone using ajax for their primary applications.

slightly untrue description, it doesn't really sync your docs, just uploads a new copy. so if you import something from google docs, edit it and then save it back to google docs, it creates a new file. which is a step forward, but not actual synchronisation.half a digg

Why blogspam? Why didn't you just submit the extension link yourself?

Is there a write up on how to install this? I'm running Ubuntu 'Gutsy', and i've downloaded the file, and opened OO.o Calc. Went to Tools->Extension manager Add.. and added the file, and restarted but my screen looks the same no new icons or anything. I've also verified Tools->options-> java has Sun Microsystems 1.6.0_03 selected. Is there anyplace with install instructions? self confessed Linux n00b here with 6mos experaince. Thanks

Has anyone figured out how to get this functionality into NeoOffice for the Mac? I was able to import the plugin and even got the buttons/menus to show up, but it was non-functional.

For windows so it can compete with Office. Not with anything else does it need that tray.

Has anyone been able to get the import feature to work? I am trying to use this extension with the latest version of OOO (2.3.1) on Windows XP, and I can only get the export function to work. When I select import, and then enter my login, I click "get list" and no documents ever appear<a class="user" href="http://chat.paramegsoft.com/">http://chat.paramegsoft.com/</a><a class="user" href="http://www.directory.paramegsoft.com/">http://www.directory.paramegsoft.com/</a>
