If you have a mainstream distribution, and apply regular maintenance, there's nothing you need to do. This article is useful if you've rolled your own distribution and want to handle the DST change.

Thanks for a great article! I wish you could've seen my face when I pasted "zdump -v /etc/localtime | grep 2007" and saw March 11. Just another of the great many reasons I don't regret my fairly recent decision to run 'nix full-time after courting it for so many years.I also have a W2k server that I used to run for hosting my site/podcast/whatever but it's going 'nix too, as I have no burning desire to fork over, what, $3500 for support for the issue? Baah! Another box is running QNX and I love that one as well. My drive that runs my XP Media Center (that broke with MC2005) hasn't been booted for quite some time now. I picked up a new half-terabyte drive that's going in to replace it. It's not going to have anything from Redmond on it. Somehow, I don't seem to mind that one bit. Not to be a basher of the MS camp. Heck, there are a lot of grandmothers that can get email with pictures of the grand kids because of them, and that's a good thing. It's just not for me anymore.

Excellent article! While the FTP links didn't work, it wasn't too hard to figure out how to download the file. Running zic on it and performing the link provided the desired result: the correct new dates and times for the change to DST. Bravo and thanks!
