justoneclubcard.com — "The goal is to fix the problem of having to carry around tens of loyalty, discount, and club cards every time I go shopping. I finally broke down and created this page when I realized my wallet was way too thick and 3/4 of the thickness was from the various supermarket and other loyalty cards."

Nice, but I only have 2, ralphs and pavillion (vons). For ralphs I have a key card, and even though pavillion/vons is safeway in SoCal, pavillion's a magnetic strip, so I just use a phone number.A while back, I used to just type in a random number, and it usually worked on the first try. But the coupons I get now are worth it.

A year or two ago, there was a story in the Baltimore Citypaper that showed different ways companies can use the cards to their advantage. (<a class="user" href="http://www.citypaper.com/news/story.asp?id=3322">http://www.citypaper.com/news/story.asp?id=3322</a> -- the story has been removed, but the title is there) They pointed to a website that I can't find now that would allow you to upload your barcode numbers if you want, and download other people's and print them out -- thus alleviating the problem of the privacy concern, especially if 20 people are using the same number.

These shopper cards are evil. They are no different than the store saying "if you dont allow us to track your purchases (and possibly turn over personal information), you must pay a surcharge on many items in the store".Write your attorney general and complain.<a class="user" href="http://www.nocards.org">http://www.nocards.org</a>

I happily give my home number out to stores whenever they ask. I get at most 1 telemarketing call a month, and when I do it's pretty clearly not related to any business I frequent. Usually its someone calling about phone service, cellular service, satellite TV service etc.
