devnulled.com— A cool article that just shows that you dont need to have a ub3r server to survive the digg/slashdot effect, this guy survived it on T1 with a 486!

When he was Slashdotted, he was at the console and able to switch over from a database driven site to a static page. Even so, his site was down for a couple of hours. I wonder what sort of warning he had and what he was able to do when he was Dugg.
Digg comprises of 90% of slashdot users and a bunch of n00bs, who wouldn't know how to compile code even if the read a tutorial! (Just a do realise compiling code is easy...)
i submitted a story a while back of a 286 running as a webserver, u can get almost anything online if u take the time to set it up right and have enuff bandwith
Our site got slashdotted from the Slashdot front page twice in one month last year. I didn't notice any greater traffic than usual. We do have a tough server.-j
Just to clarify, the server is humming along without incident:-bash-2.05b$ uptime11:53AM up 52 days, 12:32, 3 users, load averages: 0.43, 0.25, 0.20I was seeding torrents when most of you were starting to hit the site.. I killed them so your requests could be served back once I found-out about it.

A Celeron 466 isn't exactly a speed demon, even if it is faster than a 486.<a class="user" href="http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Celeron/Intel-Celeron%20466%20-%20FV80524RX466128%20(FV524RX466%20128).html">http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Celeron/Intel-Celeron%20466%20-%20FV80524RX466128%20(FV524RX466%20128).html</a>66 MHz FSB, 128K L2 cache ...
