I bought my iPhone last week, when there were third party apps and the phone was unlockable. However, I also knew that I wouldn't be able to update it. I can deal with that, so I won't be updating it. It's not complicated.
Is it possible Apple is holding back on opening up the iPhone until after Leopard is launched? It's is a scaled down version of an operating system which hasn't been released, to protect certain features I would do the same. I bet you will see an "Appouncement" shortly after Leopard's October release, just in time for the holiday season.

Great. When Apple announces an SDK, I'll update the phone. Until then, it's 1.0.2.

Yeah, and I'll update it, and give them the chance to sell me music, AFTER they start allowing 3rd party apps.
