I agree. But your description, aldomatic, sounds a little strange. "Dumb blondes"? That's the mother of all prejudices. I am happy with my blond girlfriend, who is one of the hottest girls in college and who gives me the feeling that she is as or even smarter than I am.That's the spirit! Prejudices - no good. :P
There's a difference between marriage, shorter relationships and jacking off. The first you want an equal to share your life, the seocnd you want someone who is interesting and engaging, and the third you want someone sexy you can fantasize about.
What doesn't make sense? The only 2 things I related where unhappiness and insecurity, not intelligence and insecurity. If a man feels insecure he may not want to be with a women who is smarter then himself.
Sounds like an older person is overcompensating for his/her lack of a college degree by harping on petty mistakes that younger, less experienced people make in life. Give them time, with education and experience comes true knowledge and knowledge applied over and over again usually leads to wisdom. Are the younger ones coming up to fast for you?
