engadget.com — A personality profiling conducted on 7,500 people at Apple's biggest tub-thumping event of the year, Macworld, yielded results that would suggest Apple users "are more liberal, less modest, and more assured of their own superiority than the population at large."

The next test they need to conduct on these immodest Macolytes, is how much more college we have.Being more Liberal is a consequence of being more educated. Did we vote for Bush? No. Did we buy a PC with Windows to also buy virus software and run winning to our geeky relative to fix it every month? No.You know what develops a sense of superiority? Trying for years to have thoughtful and reasonable discussions with fools. That'll do it. After a while you just say; "Because I said so."

You're retarded. You ate some bad cheese at a young age cuz something is kiling your brain cells. Here's how the conversation would go.You: I got this awesome new player. It does FLAC & OGG!!!! DIVX TOO!!!Me: Oh cool let me hook it up to iTunes. You: Well, it can't do that.Me: Why not? That's where all my music and stuff is.You: Well, you're just gonna have to change!Me: Change? To what? You: Well there's this CD that came in the box, it's called Super-Duper Music. It comes with a coupon where I can download unlimited songs for a year!Me: How many songs are on there? You: 1300, they like Hip Hop.Me: Does it work with Mac?You: Uhh, no.Me: Lemme take a look at this thing. What's that button do?You: Well, that's the radio/recorder/stop/on/off/vibrate button.Me: Sounds pretty complicated to work with. Does it have a manual? You: Yeah, it's like a half-inch thick. Mostly in Japanese.Me: How much did you pay for this thing? You: About $199. That's $50 less than your iPod.Me: My iPod holds 80 GB. Yours? You: Well I have to buy the memory, it's upgradable.Me: How much did you get? You: I got an 8 GB card for like $150.Me: So you spent $350 on an 8 GB FLAC player that doesn't work with iTunes, or even Macintosh for that matter. You don't know how to operate it, and it doesn't even play mp3s? I'll stick with my iPod, you're not intimidating me.You: Well, it's better!Me: Don't give a s**t.

Why? So you can continue looking down your nose at us "lesser mortals"?

Yeah, to clarify, LAME is the codec, MP3 the format, and AVI is one possible container for MPEG-4. I specify LAME because not only is it free and open source, it's still in development and contrary to common perception is excellent (though not without faults). FLAC is it's own format (can also be contained within OGG) and Vorbis is the audio codec for OGG. There's only one Vorbis and one FLAC. There are many MP3 encoders. LAME is the best I've found. For a good rundown and a reality check for those spouting codec superiority: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.phpA little info from some very knowledgeable folks and a few listening tests would probably straighten out the bulls**t.
