Don't ever trade your car in, if you sell it your self you will get way more. Also you will never get what you paid for the car but if you calculate how much you paid for it how long you drove it how much you put into it for oil changes ext. and then how much you sell it for.exp. Paid 16000 + 120 a year in work for 10 years = 17200 - sell price of 4500 = 12700 / 10 years = 1270 a year or 24.50 a week that may seem like a lot but think about how much you would pay and how inconvenient it would be to take public transit.
Who killed the the electric car?Laws of economy, people did not want them.Sure a few did, but not enough to make it profitable to make them or sell them. Now the Volt, there is something that can cause demand !!
I got 44 mpg from Austin to San Diego in my 07 Civic Hybrid, averaging 75-80 mph. I don't think your Saturn can do anything like that.....in fact I am sure it cant. And in a "partial zero emission vehicle".....something else to think about. Nice try.

I know this report of which you speak. And I also know that it was debunked about 50 times.

Ride a motorcycle instead. My commuter 500cc bike does about 60 miles per gallon. It's excellent on gas and a lot of fun to ride.
