f0rked.com — This article details a practical experience with liquid water cooled below its freezing point. When disturbed, the water turns into ice within a matter of seconds. It's called supercooling, and occurs when molecules in the pure water cannot fuse together.

Also, the water probably does not freeze completely solid, because heat is released as the water crystallizes.

@golluxI noticed the samething this morning on my windshield, when the wiper first swept across it looked like is was simply pushing moisture, but at the edge where the blade had stopped you could see the moisture had crystalized. excellent observation!!!

@f0rkedSo why don't you point out where each browser fails to adhere to your so called standards? I'm not an ass, so I don't do any of this on any sites I run, but you're just a hypocritcal jackass unless you point out glaring flaws aw well in FF, Opera, Safari, etc...

If you will, also take the time to notice how the pages render almost identical in Firefox/Opera. So for future reference, SHUT THE f**k UP.

I was in Winter Park Colorado this past week and the exact same thing happened to me. I had left an almost empty Sam's Club 20oz. bottle of water on the floor of my car overnight. I don't recall the temperature, but it was pretty cold. If anyone has a way to look up the high for the day, it was December 21. I saw that the water wasn't frozen and remembered reading about supercooling on Digg. So i fired up the camera phone and got a pretty decent video.

some of you people are so retarded. it doesn't turn into solid ice, it turns into slush. any freezer can do it if the water's free of impurities, you just have to set it to the right temperature or take the water out at the right time without disturbing it.
