joystiq.com — With 13 years of competitive play under its belt and counting, Super Street Fighter II Turbo is widely considered to be 2-D fighting perfected. A high octane, extremely offense-minded fighter, how is it that Capcom plans to improve upon perfection? By bringing in the comic masterminds at UDON to redraw the entire game, pixel-for-pixel.

I don't know about a lot of you, but I grew up playing the Street Fighter games and their cousins in the arcades (what's an arcade? the younger readers ask ;) ). So any update/redoing of Street Fighter is good news in my opinion. And if its on PSN/XBLA it'll probably be really cheap too.

Blanka was the first character I picked before I button mashed hysterically.

Is there a controller around to play the game properly? The XBox controller is great for current generation games, but for all classics that require a good dpad its kind of problematic.

Althought SF2 is a classic, Mortal Kombat II had the best game play of this genre. Fatalities and even babalities!

It's so unfortunate that SF3 come out when 2d gaming was really out of fashion, all of like 8 people have probably owned that game which is absolutely the best 2d fighter out there. 3rd Strike was amazing with the obscene amount of customization available it was the perfect home console fighter it was easy to make the game play just like street fight 2 turbo or like alpha with just a few changes in the 8 pages of options. It's too bad that since no one played it we'll likely never see on a home console again.

Last Blade 2 was probably the most complex 2D-Fighter. The problem with most 2D-fighters or even some 3D fighters is that it boiled down to the fastest character. Which is why Ken will always crush the s**t out of Ryu in SF3. Too bad, cuz Ryu was my main pick in SF2.

Another reason 3rd Strike would be a better choice is because there's still competitive arcade play for it...

This is great announcement. Though I don't have a PS3 or 360, SSFII Turbo is one of the best fighting games I've ever played, and I would love to give it another go with new features.
