fasterfox.mozdev.org — This extension automatically employs link prefetching, network tweaking, enhanced pop-up blocking, along with simultaneous connections, pipe-lining, enhanced caching, DNS caching, and initial paint delaying to make FireFox so fast it can break servers (or at least hurt them).

CowDefender (funny name), I have not seen/heard any problem like the one in your shot. Are you using the 1.5 beta? It, especially with this extension, has proven to be very buggy.

Link prefetching has a lot of arguments going with it. It screws with servers and statistics, can fill up your browser cache, and can get you in trouble for things you did not click. So there you go.
