david.dotgeek.org — David Coallier created an interesting prototype for a new kind of search he wants to see Google implement; a real-time synonyms search. For example, you enter “war” in the search box, and instantly you’ll see a list of synonyms or related terms (like “battle”, “crusade” and “campaign”).

Also, some other words can be found by typing 'TOOLS' such as: Peter, Pecker, Penis, ...I rest my case.

I think this is an interesting idea, but implementing it in real-time across the whole of Google's user base sounds a bit intensive in terms of traffic and processing power. Maybe returning a set of "related searches" along with the search results would make more sense. I know that instant response using AJAX is cool and all that, very Web2.0; although maybe implementing it would be feasible if Google had a set of servers just aimed at providing this particular service.
