davidgagne.net— About a week ago I flew to Rhode Island on business. I was forced into the 'security threat' line because I refused to remove my sunglasses at the second of four TSA checkpoints at LAX.

You don't have the right fly on a airplane or walk through an airport. Both are private property. If you want to be there you need to follow the rules of the property owners and their agents. In this case the airport has given the TSA the authority to control access to the terminal.
I wonder what Corey Hart would have to say about all this, seeing as how he wears his sunglasses even at night (hyuk). Seriously, though, I don't think the guy should have gotten so offended, but at the same time it seems pretty easy to tell someone's face with or without sunglasses. I think it speaks more to the incompetency of TSA officials than to an authoritarian government – but then again, I never thought we'd live in a society where "may I see your papers?" would become a part of everyday life.
What about security personnel wasting his time? Oh, right, people should surrender any sense of dignity and self-worth before prostrating themselves before airport screeners – I forgot.
All terrorists are arabs, all arabs come from hot countries with bright sunlight, all hot countries with bright sunlight require people to wear sunglasses. Therefore, all terrorists wear sunglasses.See how easy security can be when you ignore the rules of logic?

What an ass. He deserved worse for wasting security personnel time that may otherwise have been used better.

By the way: SSI stands for "Sensitive Security Information." http://www.slate.com/id/2109922/This just means that the retard from the TSA doesn't have to tell you why he is doing something. That's the most ridiculous un-American rule I've ever heard.
