macrumors.com — Approximately 200 field technicians have been secretly testing the iPhone for 10 weeks... logging over 10,000 hours on the phone, including over 5,000 hours of voice calls and 5 gigabytes of data usage. Users worried about durability can rest easier that testing included dousing the iPhone in water, dropping it onto concrete and bouncing it off...

I lived this long without 3G (never heard of it until two months ago). If it costs extra to use it, then I wouldn't want it anyway. My home, my work, my relatives' homes and most of my hang-outs have Wi-Fi so, I'm good with that.If the iPhone embraces the flawed 3G, I'm sure that a simple firmware update will be implemented. That being said...See you in line June 29th.

It's good that they are testing the iPhone - but doesn't this seem like it's a bit late?Test #1: Drop from 3 foot height onto asphalt... Result: Broken... "Oh s**t" What could they really do about it at this point?

It's not clear for me, this is NOT a lab (or controlled) test. Also the blogs ARE all over the world. Maybe the initial sales made at US, but US citizens are traveling for vacations and selling their iPhones at ebay. Here in Greece there are already 4-5 iPhones and there are complains about their problems with high temperatures, 45C+ (113F+) under the shadow or 60C+ (140F+) at the ground!
