news.softpedia.com — I have three subjects today, and each of them is a winner in its way. The interesting fact about them is that all three start with the first letter of the alphabet, their names being Avira PersonalEdition Classic, AVG Free Edition and Avast! Home Edition.

KAV tends to BSOD on my machine when I use bittorrent so I canned it for Avast.

No self respecting virus writer will ever write one for the mac, however a mac offers the perfect vector for the sending of email viruses and trojans onto other regular folk who prefer to use an OS with 95% ubiquity/popularity.In this case, being an unprotected mac user is just as irresponsible as those stupid twerps who refuse to install SP2 and have auto-update running. Sure, they shouldn't be forced to, but the amount of crap that these unprotected PCs send on and keep alive cannot be understated!

WHAT THE f**k is it about these self righteous, smug ass mac users?Do they not understand that nobody give 2 sloppy s**ts about their "I use a mac so I have no viruses, friends, life" comments in a clearly WINDOWS section?!

Yeah, its staggering to see how many people have old and outdated copies of NAV etc but still think they're protected because they use Norton AV.I saw a client's PC not long ago that had NAV on it that was 71 months out of date, but they still thought they were protected. They just kept dismissing the out-of-date warning without even thinking about it.Hell, even if it was up to date, they'd still not be safe with NAV.I use Avast on my PCs, and all of my client's PCs too. The only time they get infected is when they either turn it off for some stupid reason, don;t let it auto-update, or decide it would be a great idea to install a 3 year old 30 day trial of NAV they found on their motherboard driver CD.

Well u should think @bout this :AVfree -sucks after 1-2 day it going crazy on some machine and generate 100% cpu usage, btw the updater sucksAVGfree - sucks. The best AV software is ClamAV on gateway and it will not slowdown your lovely winbox ...But neither will hit F-Secure, NOD32 so better if you simply drop winsuxx or buy a commercial product.

i'll stay ignorant and keep using NOD32 :P
