kottke.org— After two visible complaints last year about the lack of women speakers at web conferences, upcoming conferences still are not doing a good job of getting women on their speaker rosters.

I've found women come at things from a different angle, and in web design type stuff, it's a great thing. Besides, they'd be better to look at as well during a session :-)
in truth, I have no problem with a female only conference, what I have a problem with is that it seems to be socially okay to have a female only conference or even events for people of specific races as long as it's not a white only thing, but if someone were to host a conference for only white males aged between 18 and 45, a large number of people would get very pissed off about it. My real problem is the double standards that our society has placed on these kinds of things.
Women will only become stronger in this field. It's the same with gaming, and anything else tech related. It's not accepted for most women to be in the field, but at this point it's starting to become the norm. I mean a lot of girls are starting to build websites and become successful. There was one girl who was making over 80,000 a month off a myspace layouts site. Theres another girl building a game site who is making a lot as well. http://www.girlgames1.com
Now that I think about it most women are probably just busy at home writing content. In fact I've noticed that most women just write, compared to men who procrastinate all the time. For instance this women that posted in digitalpoint made http://www.flat-stomach-exercises.info in under two weeks. I would say generally men just like to go do things, and not actually put forth the effort when it comes to building sites. I personally know more women entrepreneurs then men. Also another reason would possibly be because of the creepy guys that show up at web conferences. This will divert many women from showing up at all.
I'm about to attend a tech conference in Washington, DC. It's more specifically about web analytics, but I know that there are a few women speakers. However, I agree in that there are often a lot less women attendees, but this seems to be trending in a positive direction. I think that the stereotypes that are normally assosciated with women are beginning to die out, especially as we start to see more and more websites made by women with large sectiosn specifically for women. For instace, http://www.gain-weight-building-muscle.com/ has a large section for women's health. Also, if your a girl and you like web games, check out http://www.girlgames1.com/
Well, Time is changing. May be women will wake up one day and start taking part in the web conference. But the thing we should worry about is we get better speakers rather than thinking that the speaker is man or woman, black or white.Chrish Troyalshttp://www.exercisesforbelly.com
I think men are more outspoken in compared to women. Women on the other hand are much more sincere at work and fully devote themselves to any work they indulge in. Men believe more in giving lectures or showing-off what they know in compared to women so there are lesser number of women speakers found at conferences. http://www.getaflat-stomach.com/

I think this will change over time. We are approaching an era where gender will be irrelevant in such spots.Martha - http://www.flatstomachtips.com/
