huffingtonpost.com— The Republican Party is like a dying tyrant, mad with syphilis, ironically like that very Stalin they would accuse their enemies of associating with.

Try not to forget that we are currently surrounded. The Republican Party is clearly in shambles right now. No leaders (except Rush), no viable candidates and no real direction. I think it will stay this way until their party can rid itself of the religious intolerance that has permeated their platform almost completely. However, many of the younger generation of conservatives are already free from this influence. They are tolerant of homosexuals, less religious and seem generally more even tempered and level headed. When they gain control of their party, it will certainly make a comeback.
Wow, good article. "Perhaps that element of humanity is going back into hibernation and is snapping at any and everything before its eyes finally close. In our lifetime the choice has never been so stark."The Republicans with a brain, like Megan McCain, need to separate themselves from the wingnuts. Even if you have to call yourself something different. You won't really be losing any influence. The Democrats are so diverse that you'll be able to find support for many issues that are important to you. I know a lot of you don't believe me when I say this, but I want Republican positions to have effective and intelligent promoters. I think healthy debate is good, even if we disagree. But as long as the win-by-any-means nutjobs, the religious extremists and human offal like Limbaugh are out front, your ideals are tainted by their offensive stupidity.
