The author is either unsure or received conflicting evidence - or just writes confusingly.Right after your quote the article goes on to state: "But they are consistent with an emerging consensus of how adult stem cells perform their many functions through so-called bystander or chaperone effects."So who knows.
They used embryonic cells here, but later the article said it was adult cells. Kinda badly written. They are trying to use the rat's own cells, but it's still in the experimental stage.
That is not the point. The mass murder of the unborn would increase and possibly be specifically managed to create more available embryonic stem cells. That is why people are against it.
