I doubt there will be any java games, there are already some games on steam that have linux clients. Unreal Tournament (99 and 04), Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Quake 4, Doom 3, and probably other iD sotware games. If there bringing steam to linux hopefully the source engine will be ported too bringing all the great valve games to linux natively. If these do well hopefully it influences companies to port their games to linux.

If these games are going to be ported to Linux, how long will it be before we see rootkits and hidden device drivers being installed behind our backs like Windows versions of games do?I always found it funny that the two games I purchased in recent times (doom 3 and ut2004) had no cd-checking malware when I installed the Linux version, but they did when I installed the Windows version. I guess someone will have to pay a company like first4internet or sony to develop their software for our platform.

It would be incredible if Steam and all steam games ran natively in Linux. That is a long way off, and would require a huge effort - but I'd switch ...

Like said before, Linux numbers are under counted. Same as Firefox numbers were understated for a long time as well. Had a friend who is a web designer say for over a year that he didn't need to worry about designing websites for Firefox since no one uses it. Wasn't til Firefox was getting wide span media coverage that he finally "discovered" it.
