iht.com — Pirates in China didn't just copy NEC's products, they faked the entire company. "Evidence seized in raids on 18 factories and warehouses in China and Taiwan over the past year showed that counterfeiters had set up what amounted to a parallel NEC brand."

Surely he means just rebadging a lower clocked CPU for a higher one?

My company deals with this crap on a daily basis. They de-value their currency, copy products, and use labor so cheap its almost slavery. Not sure what the answer is, but China is sucking the rest of the world dry!

@Stevethegreat: "OK it happens but why are you so concerned on that particular matter on this particular place of the world?"Dude... can you say "global economy"? While there are a number of us somewhat concerned about political freedom, etc (these issues make the news here too), even more are and should be concerned that products are being knocked off with such abandon (and cheering when these people are brought to account... even when its a small drop in a rather large bucket). While NEC is a Japanese based company, it just as easily could be an American company. You can sit around watching the clouds, but things particularly in CHINA should be of large concern to anyone looking at their economic future. Where have you been? Google the news for "China textiles" (that's a news staple these days). When people can't even count on a brand name, it gets much worse.
